THE SCENE MATCH
Screen matching is the process of comparing a prop, costume, or production item to its appearance on screen to determine whether it is the exact piece used during filming.
By examining distinctive characteristics such as wear, paint patterns, scratches, stitching, damage, markings, and other unique features, it is often possible to identify an individual item as the one seen in a specific scene.
Â
At CB Collectibles Vault, screen matching forms an important part of our authentication process whenever suitable reference material is available. We carefully compare items against high-resolution production stills, promotional images, and footage to identify unique characteristics that support their provenance.
Â
While not every production-used item can be screen matched, a successful match provides an additional level of confidence by directly linking an item to its on-screen appearance. Where a screen match has been established, we clearly state this within the item's description and provide supporting comparison imagery whenever possible.
Â
Our commitment is to present every item with honesty, transparency, and the strongest available evidence, ensuring collectors can purchase with confidence.
